From the sun-drenched stalls of Tucson to the quiet brilliance of our studio, this year’s gem journey unfolded in a symphony of colour.
Each stone we chose felt like a moment captured—some vivid and playful, others soft with a kind of whispered glow. As we prepare for The Annual Gem Affair, we find ourselves drawn to these hues once again, each one a gentle reminder of why we do what we do.
Silky Haze
Sapphires
Among the gems that stood out this year, one particular discovery lingered in our minds long after the fair had ended—Silky Sapphires. Unlike the traditionally crisp and transparent sapphires many are familiar with, these stones glow with a gentle mistiness, as if their colours are suspended in morning light. Hazy yet luminous, they shimmer with soft inner sparkles that seem to breathe rather than shine.
One piece in particular continues to haunt us—in the best way. A purplish-pink Silky Sapphire, cut in a sharp Asscher shape, carries a quiet, misty body that glows from within. But look closely, and warm flashes of orangey pink dance beneath the surface, like embers glowing under water. It feels otherworldly, almost alien in its beauty—familiar yet unknowable. A gem that doesn't shout, but hums softly in a language only some will hear.
It was a quiet moment at the booth when Kengo-san first noticed these stones—drawn not by brilliance, but by something more subtle. There was something dreamlike in their pinkish purples, moody violets, and forested greens.
A rare kind of beauty. So rare, in fact, that we’re introducing them for the very first time, and only for this occasion. These Silky Sapphires will be available exclusively during The Annual Gem Affair—a fleeting chance to meet a new kind of wonder.
Blushed Landscapes
Bi-colour Tourmaline
If Silky Sapphires whisper like a secret, then Tourmalines speak in colour. This year, we found ourselves returning again and again to their endless spectrum—but it was the Bi-colour Tourmalines that truly captivated us. Within a single stone, nature paints with more than one brush, blending hues that feel as if they’ve melted into each other over time.
Some of them reminded us of faraway landscapes—most vividly, a pink lagoon at dusk. The way green dissolves into pink within these gems feels like warm sunlight touching still waters, creating a moment both vivid and dreamlike. They carry a sense of place, almost like a memory in crystal form.

Among them is a variety close to our hearts—Hazakura Tourmalines, named by our gemologist Kengo-san. With their gentle balance of leafy green and soft pink, they echo the fleeting beauty of Japan’s springtime, when sakura petals begin to fall and young green leaves emerge. Serene, nostalgic, and quietly romantic, they are a love letter to the season of new beginnings.
Between Land & Sea
Teal Sapphire & Tourmaline
There’s a quiet strength in teal—a colour that lives somewhere between land and sea, between blue and green. This year, we found ourselves drawn to its many expressions, captured most vividly in sapphires and tourmalines.

Teal Sapphires are like walking through a forest just after rain. Their tones shift with every movement—flecks of light green, bluish glimmers, and deep mossy hues mingle together like sunlight weaving through tall trees. No two are alike. There’s a softness in the way their colours change, as if nature is telling a story in layers of green and blue.
In contrast, Teal Tourmalines are solid and unwavering—rich pools of saturated colour. Their clarity and depth feel grounding, like a still lake reflecting the sky. Where the sapphires flicker like filtered light, the tourmalines hold a steady gaze.
Together, they offer two sides of the same mood: a calm that runs deep, yet shimmers just beneath the surface.

Petals in Pairs
A Variety of Stones
Some gems feel like they were always meant to be together. These pear-shaped stones, selected in pairs, remind us of petals caught mid-fall—light, graceful, and perfectly imperfect. In soft pinks, vivid greens, and warm golden hues, they bring to mind a garden just beginning to bloom.
There’s a tenderness in the light pink and pink tourmalines, like the first blush of spring. Peridots sparkle with a fresh, leafy green, while Mandarin garnets glow like tiny drops of sunlight. Each pair is a moment frozen in colour—ready to become earrings, twin rings, or anything the imagination desires.

Each year, Tucson offers us a glimpse into nature’s infinite palette—but this year, it felt especially intimate. These colours—misty, vivid, and quietly radiant—found their way into our hearts long before they reached our hands. We’re honoured to share them with you, not just as gemstones, but as little vessels of light and feeling.
The stones we’ve shared here are just a few highlights. There will be many more colours, cuts, and hidden gems waiting to be discovered at The Annual Gem Affair—exclusive selections, stories waiting to be continued. We hope you'll join us in discovering what happens when light meets colour.
